Quoting Via Email... No, Just No!

Nearly every single day we get a form submission followed by an email asking for a quote for the service request outlined in the submission. Ain't happening. While we offer a list of Example Prices clearly listed on our Home Page, it seems many either miss it, ignore it, or simply want more specific pricing tailored to them. This simply doesn't work; For US or for YOU.

HINT: Watch repair is typically complicated! If it wasn't, everyone would do it...

For a majority of repairs, there's simply too much guess work involved in quoting based off of the limited description given at the time of the service request. Even a well thought out and articulated description isn't enough for most internal repairs. Our mod work, as well as items like re-seating hands, are clearly defined in the pricing list mentioned above; Granted, even these may fluctuate after inspecting the watch but we are pretty close in the estimation. Take for instance hand re-seating as just mentioned. We have this quoted at $35 on our service pricing list. The truth is, many leave at $25. Some leave at $45. Why? Well, the $25 re-seat was easier than the $45! Simple, right? If $35 is average, then the $45 repair for the same service would entail more work (or more liability) that the $35 service. For instance, it takes a good deal more time and adds a good deal of liability to service the hands of a top mount movement model watch because we must remove the bezel and crystal to access the hands. The additional time, as well as the additional liability commands a higher price. The opposite is true of an easier to service watch. All that said, when we are talking about general repairs and service requests like "I'd like a new movement..." or "My watch has stopped working, please fix...", there is no way for us to know what is going on. Some people get real specific, like "My watch ran great for two years. Then one day I noticed it was a bit slow. Now it is loosing several minutes a day. When I shake it really hard I hear noises coming from inside the case like something is loose. When I bang it on the desk it stops intermittently. how much will it cost to fix it?" And we're like :( ????. We don't know. Nobody knows. We could guess and when we're wrong, you could be pissed. Or maybe we get it right and you think we have supernatural watch healing powers. The truth is, it takes far too much time out of our day to go back and forth over how much it will cost to fix a watch we haven't seen. It is for this very reason that we offer FREE INSPECTIONS. It allows you to get your watch to us and have a complete diagnosis, which leads to an accurate, no nonsense, no guessing price for services rendered.

No Cost For Inspection: If you decide not to move forward with repair, your total liability is return shipping, currently $7.60 in the US!
